Four years later, Bose officially introduces the successor to the 2017’s QuietComfort 35 II active noise-canceling headphones – Bose QuietComfort 45 headphones with support for 24-hour battery life.
The design of the QuietComfort 45 headphones is identical to its predecessors, but rarely to its premium noise-canceling headphones. However, you can choose to easily fold up the headset for easy storage in a bag or the included carrying case.
Here is what the company said about the design “pleats and puckers have been removed from soft materials, and gaps between components have been replaced with smooth transitions.” Bose also claims that it’s “updating the headphone that redefined headphones.”
The new QuietComfort 45 headphones feature two modes – QUIET and AWARE. Where the Aware mode is more like a transparency / ambient sound feature, where the noise cancellation works in commands and during phone calls as well, which helps improve productivity.
While in QUIET mode, the active noise cancellation improves by canceling out the sounds in mid-range frequencies like the sounds found in busy offices, cafés, and commuter trains. This is possible, thanks to the microphones present inside and outside the ear cups that combine with a proprietary digital chip to sense, measure, and respond.
However, the premium Noise Canceling Headphones 700 allows you to customize the amount of noise cancellation applied. Bose hyping the QuietComfort 45 noise-canceling headphones quite overrated, as the company claims that it’s “updating the headphone that redefined headphones.”
Bose did not improve the headphones controls, as they are identical. The right ear cup houses the volume up, volume down, power, and Bluetooth pairing buttons. While toggle button between Modes and to mute microphones can be found on the left cup.
In addition, there is a beam form array for improved voice isolation on calls, and there’s also “a rejection array” that is meant to prevent distracting nearby sounds from being picked up and coming through to whoever you’re speaking with.
Bose QuietComfort 45 noise-canceling headphones promise up to 24 hours of battery life and it takes two hours for a full charge via USB-Type C port on the headphone, Bose claimed. While three hours of playback with a brief 15-minute charge.
It also supports multipoint pairing for two connections at once, this is identical to their predecessors and the NCH700. While the QuietComfort 35 IIs will be discontinued and replaced by the QC45s, you might still find Bose’s older pair.
