Facebook is testing out ‘downvote button’ on comments box

Social Media giant, Facebook is taking a different turn, bringing in newer updates and features and also entering various trains to make Facebook a comfortable place for their users. Fortunately, users have been awaiting for this particular feature for a very long time, finally, the facebook downvote button will be unveiling sooner.

Anyways, Facebook is testing out the feature in comments box in New Zealand and Australia, don’t worry, you may not be able to see it. The company will soon roll out the feature but they are still waiting for feedback from users in New Zealand and Australia.

Facebook said the button was being tested to see whether it enabled “better public discussions”. The tech giant added that the button is not a “dislike” button. As a user and you are in any of the above country, you can hover to a comment posted on a public page and then a small window appears, explaining the new feature.

“Our hope is that this feature will make it easier for us to create such spaces, by ranking the comments that readers believe deserve to rank highest, rather than the comments that get the strongest emotional reaction,” said a spokesman. A Facebook spokeswoman said the trial was in the early test stages and no decision had been made on expanding it to the global community of 2.2 billion users.

“Facebook is a place for free expression, but we also recognise that there should be a way for people tell us and each other which comments are most thoughtful and useful. To that end, we’re running a test that introduces an upvote and downvote action for comments on large public page posts,” the spokeswoman said.

“This feature allows people to push those thoughtful and engaging comments to the top of the discussion thread, and to move down the ones that are simply attacks or filled with profanity. This does not affect your personal News Feed or interactions with friends.”
