Google Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro powered by Google’s new tensor chip

    Google officially launches its major flagship phones, Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro featuring the google tensor chipset. Both come with an IP68 dust/water resistance of up to 1.5m for 30minutes and an In-display fingerprint sensor.

    As compared to the previous generation, google really went all the in, the Pixel 6 comes with a 6.4inch AMOLED flat gorilla glass Victus screen with a 90Hz refresh rate, with a screen resolution of 1080×2400 pixels, and weighs about 207g with a dual rear camera setup.

    On the other hand, the Pixel 6 Pro weighs about 210g covered in a 6.71-inch curved AMOLED scratch-resistant gorilla Victus screen with 1440resolution, Ambient Light, and Proximity sensor, 120Hz refresh rate, and a triple rear camera setup.

    Both phones boot Android 12 OS, and Google has confirmed that starting with Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro, Pixels will receive security updates for at least 5 years, but OS updates are at 3 years.

    Both are powered by Google tensor chipset (5nm) with Octa-core Cortex-X1 clocking at 2.80GHz, Cortex-A76 at 2.25GHz, and Cortex-A55 at 1.80GHz coupled with Mali-G78 MP20 GPU.

    Pixel 6 Pro is available in three memory configuration setting consisting of 128GB, 256GB, 512GB, and 12GB RAM respectively, while Pixel 6 is dualized with a storage of 128GB and 256GB with an 8GB ram and both phones have no expandable external storage.

    Pixel 6 Pro camera is one of its eye-catching features, it has a triple rear camera setup consisting of wide, ultra-wide, and telephoto cameras. Both phones’ main camera is a 50-megapixels sensor that produces 12.5-megapixel images behind an optically stabilized f/1.85 lens.

    In support, there is a 12-megapixel with Dual-LED flash, pixel shift, and auto HDR panorama. Aside from this, Pixel 6 Pro has a 48MP telephoto camera with a 4x optical zoom with f/3.5 lens, that produces great sharp, detailed images.

    On the front of the phones, the Pixel 6 has an 8-megapixels selfie camera with an 84-degree field of view, while the Pro has a Sony IMX663 11-megapixels selfie sensor with a 94-degree field of view which amounts to wider image capture.

    The Tensor chip in the pixel enables a couple of special software tricks in the camera and photos app like the new Magic Eraser tool that lets you remove unwanted people or items from a captured photo with a single tap.

    As expected the phones come with 5G a/b/g/n/ac/6e, Dual 4G VOLTE, Wi-Fi806.11, Bluetooth 5.2, Dual Band GPS + GLONASS, GALILEO, QZSS, BDS, and NFC. They also support  USB Type C audio, Dual Stereo speakers tuned by Dolby Atmos.

    The battery system is fueled by 4614mAh and 5003mAh batteries with a fast-charging 30W capacity, 21W wireless charging, and reverse wireless charging USB Power delivery of 3.0.

    The Pixel 6 comes in Sorta Seafoam, Kinda Coral, Stormy Black While Pro comes in Cloudy White, Sorta sunny, Stormy Black. One of the commendable features Google also added to these phones is the live video translation without the internet, it can translate live video captions, signs in up to 55 languages, private chats, and messages automatically.

    Google Pixel 6 starts at $599 (NGN245,775 Nigerian Naira approx. ) for the 8GB RAM / 128GB storage version and $699 (NGN286,806 Nigerian Naira approx.) for the 8GB RAM and 256GB storage model.

    On the other hand, the Google Pixel 6 Pro starts at $899 (NGN368,868 Nigerian Naira approx.) for the 12GB RAM / 128GB storage version, $999 (NGN409,899 Nigerian Naira) for the 256GB version, and $1099 (NGN450,930 Nigerian Naira approx.).

    These phones are available for order in some regions while it’s not available in some stores. It’ll be available in major U.S. carriers starting on October 28th and will also be available in Canada, Australia, Japan, France, Germany, Taiwan, and United Kingdom.
