HONOR Play 4 and HONOR Play 4 Pro 5G announced in China as the company’s latest 5G mobile phone, with powerful 7nm chipsets and up to 8GB RAM, 128GB storage, side-mounted fingerprint sensor, and runs on Android 10.
Both phones are totally different from each other. Both phones arrive with a 60Hz refresh rate, and VC cooling support. While the HONOR Play 4 is powered by MediaTek Dimensity 800 SoC and the Play 4 Pro 5G with Kirin 990 SoC with Balong 5000 5G modem and infrared temperature sensor.
These phones are up for pre-order right now, where the HONOR Play 4 Pro single variant goes for CNY 2,900 ($410), and the variant with infrared temperature sensor is priced at 2999 yuan ($421).
The HONOR Play 4 for CNY 2,000 ($280) for the 6GB RAM with 128GB, and 1999 yuan ($281) for the 8GB RAM with 128GB. You can purchase them from June 9th and June 12th respectively.

The HONOR Play 4 PRO is powered by the company’s own flagship chipset, the Hisilicon Kirin 990, which is the 7nm version with an external 5G modem with Balong 5000 5G modem, 8GB of RAM and 128GB storage.
Well, this isn’t the first time we’re having an infrared temperature sensor on a Smartphone, there was the Cat’s S60, with a thermal imaging camera and many others.
But in this era of COVID-19 pandemic, the infrared temperature sensor could detect high body temperature after being held up to people’s faces and wrists, as a sign of being ill with COVID-19. The company noted that the sensor works between temperatures of -20 degrees Celsius and 100 degrees Celsius.
It runs on Android 10 with MagicUI 10.1, supports 60Hz refresh rate in its 6.57-inch 1080p Full HD+ 20:9 LCD screen display, measures 8.9mm, and weighs 213g.
These mobile phones come with photography sense, and the HONOR Play 4 PRO still doesn’t disappoint with its two rear cameras. The main shooter, 40-megapixels is a Sony IMX600, a 1/1.7” sensor with RYYB filter.
HONOR noted that it captures 40% more light than traditional sensors and can boost its ISO to 204,800. And it can record 4K/60fps video and support “AIS”, stabilization powered by the Kirin ISP, for the lack of OIS.
While the secondary 8-megapixels sensor is a telephoto camera with f/2.4, OIS, 3x optical zoom, (5x hybrid zoom, up to 30x digital zoom), and the Laser AF system for autofocus.
It arrives with a dual punch hole on the screen display, that hosts the 32-megapixels with f/2.0, and 8-megapixels 105° ultra-wide with f/2.2, both with fixed focus lenses. A 4200mAh battery keeps the phone on, with 40W fast charging tech.
