Huawei Mate 20 Lite launched at IFA 2018 with AI features

    Huawei Mate 20 Lite Android powered Smartphone has been launched by the Chinese company at IFA 2018. And yes, the device arrives with four cameras as presumed! Huawei launched the Mate 10 Lite, and the Mate 20 Lite is also going that way too.

    The Mate 20 Lite is another notched device from Huawei. And like most of their phones, the Mate 20 Lite is an AI-powered device with amazing and soft-like design on the front and back! Although, Huawei also launched the AI Cube Smart Speaker, which looks more a sugar-cube size.

    Design and Display

    The newly launched Smartphone from Huawei is definitely a piece of sophisticated and premium design. The color combination is an awesomeness of top-end and deluxe looking features.

    The classic Mate 20 Lite Smartphone arrives with the company’s AI (Artificial Intelligence) technology, which powers almost everything on the handset starting as AI Shopping Assistant, AI camera, AI noise cancellation, AI smart gallery, and many more others.

    The Huawei Mate 20 Lite is the first among the series (Mate 20 and Mate Plus) to arrive. It comes with a tall display of 6.3-inch TFT LCD Full-HD+, and it shows high-quality of videos, movies and games with its screen resolution of 1080pixels.

    Thankfully, it comes with 19.5:9 aspect ratio alongside with a notch display at the top of the screen, hence, providing a more slimmer bezels around the screen, boasting of 81% screen-to-body ratio. And there is pixel density of 409ppi.

    The glass design is available on the front and back with a rounded metal frame, and brings in an incredible design. The colors options includes Black, Platinum Red, and Sapphire Blue colour options. It comes with a fingerprint sensor placed under the dual rear camera.

    And here is the four camera, it is not a groundbreaking spec or feature. After all, they are series of Android OEMs with four camera products out there, for a cheaper price. But Huawei is turning the table around, having putting 2 cameras at the front and 2 at the back.

    On the rear side, you’ve the unique vertically placed 20-megapixels f/1.8 main snapper with a secondary 2-megapixels sensor for capturing depth information alone, yes, portrait mode. And also support PDAF feature.

    On the front sits a 24-megapixels camera sensor f/2.0 camera, enhanced with 2-megapixels for in-depth sensor secondary lens. The front camera can take bokeh mode selfies. Of course, the cameras are powered by AI scene detection, Qmoji, which is the company’s selfie AR camera mode, and answer to Apple’s AR emoji.

    Also features a 3D lighting effect for after the shot advanced selfie editing. You might not love the fact, that it lacks OIS, and needs a tripod stand for perfect low lights shot. The Mate 20 Lite can recognize 22 scenes.

    It comes with handful of network and connectivity, 4G LTE, dual-band Wi-Fi 802.11ac, Bluetooth v4.2 LE, GPS/ A-GPS, GLONASS, NFC, USB Type-C, and a 3.5mm headphone jack.

    Performance and Battery

    Undoubtedly, the phone is a machine and it brings in a superior processor to the body and software of the handset. But it is still incomparable to other major mid-range Smartphones out there.

    The Mate 20 Lite is housing a Kirin 710 SoC octa-core processor paired with 4GB / 6GB RAM. It lacks the high-end Kirin 970 processor, which is available to Mate 10, P20 and the latest company’s Honor Play Android Smartphone.

    It runs Android 8.1 Oreo with EMUI 8.2 on top. There 64GB of internal storage, which is expandable up to 256GB via micro SD card slot. Hence, providing more bigger space for your photos, movies, musics, documents and many more.

    Packs a huge 3750mAh battery capacity, which is built on a 12nm process. And can be charged via a 18W USB-C charger. Sensors includes Accelerometer, Ambient light sensor, Electronic compass, Gyroscope, Fingerprint sensor, and Proximity sensor.

    Price of Huawei Mate 20 Lite

    The mid-range handset is quite impressive and amazingly, it does a reputable job at the design. Comes with a front and back glass design, alongside with a metal frame surrounding the panels of the device.

    However, the Huawei Mate 20 Lite will be available for pre-order starting from September 1st, and the price is PLN 1,599 in Poland, $490 or €379. In Nigeria, the price is around N180,000 per unit.
