Earlier this month, Hyundai Nigeria launches the first electric car in the country, which the company specifically added: “Nigeria’s first 100% Locally-Assembled Car” Introducing to you is the Hyundai Kona EV 2021.

The event was officially held in Abuja and graced by Nigeria’s Ministry of Industry, Trade and Investment, Mr. Otunba Niyi Adebayo, and Director-General, NADDC, Mr. Jelani Aliyu.

At this time, we have no idea about the warranty, how many kilometers it can get on a single full charge. The Hyundai Kona Electric price is still uncertain in the country, but it will definitely rank in thousands of dollars, around millions of Naira.

With the first electric vehicle coming forth in Nigeria, this is still a tiny-small line to eliminate the use of fuel, gas, and engine oil in the country.

When it comes to electric cars, the first company that will come into your mind is definitely Tesla but even the company is currently among the top car companies that have introduced its own electric cars over the past years.

At this time, China has banned all its military and government personnel from using Tesla EV, citing that the camera records at every instance and they are afraid the camera footage will be sent back to the US.

Tesla is the latest company to enter the entanglement between the US and China trade war, and they are both having peaceful talks. The Hong Guang Mini EV is made under a joint partnership between China’s state-owned SAIC Motor, Wuling Motors, and US carmaker General Motors, and is locally referred to simply as Wuling.

The Hong Guang Mini EV sold over 56,000 Hong Guang Mini EVs in the first two months of 2021, as it edged out Tesla’s Model 3 as the top-selling electric vehicle in the world in January and February.

Hong Guang Mini EV sold over 36,000 units in January, where the Model 3s with about 21,500 units sold. The tiny car sold just over 20,000 units last month, compared to just under 13,700 Tesla 3s.

Its specs include a wheelbase of 76.4 inches, and it is just under 115 inches long, 59 inches wide, and stands about 64 inches tall. Its total weight is about 1,466 pounds.

The Hong Guang Mini EV sells in China only for 28,800 yuan, or about $4,500 and the manufacturer claims it can seat four people, and the rear seats fold down if you need storage space.

Whereby, the 2021 base model of Tesla’s Model 3 EV price starts at just under $40,000 with more than 250 miles per charge, wheelbase of 113 inches, 185 inches long, 73 inches wide, and about 57 inches tall.
