    The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board, (JAMB) will soon commence the JAMB registration and examination, and you can start receiving students, but you must meet JAMB requirements.

    In 2018, JAMB board’s Head, Media and Information, Dr Fabian Benjamin, said this in an interview with newsmen on Sunday in Lagos.

    “We have just paid over N1 billion to all owners of CBT centres used in the conduct of our 2018 UTME. Centres owners that gave us quality service during our examination have all been commended for a job well done and we have reciprocated by effecting payments.”

    The cost of setting up a JAMB CBT center in Nigeria isn’t simple, and it is not economically priced. Anyways, it is quite pricey and expensive.

    But it will be more simple, and cheaper, if you already have an accredited and authoritative Cyber Cafe, which is bigger to carry up to 250 systems at once.

    Lets hear the official interview with Obi Ijeoma Precious, the centre administrator of International College, Ibefu centre, in Ogun State:

    ”Our centre is the best in Ogun State. From the result of the assessment, we came out the best. We have 515 computers. ‘We have strong servers in two centres. Both centres have 254 computers each and we have 3KVA server, one for each of the centres and one as a back up server.

    “We have a generator dedicated to one of the centres. In the college, we have three big generators and one designated to the centre. We spent above N100 million in setting up the centre. As an international college, our school does not engage in examination malpractice.” Mr. Duru Emeka, representing Chief Communication Limited in Abia State, noted that his centre had been used twice for UTME, adding, “this is the third time and we are prepared. Our centre was a choice because we met the required standard.

    “We have 250 capacity hall with back up of 25, a big generator with air-conditioners. All the systems are connected to the network. We have CCTV cameras installed in the halls.I am looking forward to a more organized exam as JAMB has taken time to correct things that were not in place.”

    COMPUTER BASED TEST (CBT) CENTRE REQUIREMENTS
    *. 250 functional Desktop Computer systems or laptops with 10% (i.e 25) backups.

    *. Provision of individual cubicle with minimum length of 26 inches, breadth of 18 inches and height of 18 inches and appropriate seat for each system.

    *. Minimum 15 inches flat screen Computer monitor for desktop or 17 inches for laptop.

    *. The computer systems must be connected to a robust computer server with a capacity to carry 250 systems concurrently.

    *. All the computer systems must be linked together on Cable Local Area Network topology (LAN). (Wireless Computer connection is not allowed).

    *. Adequate security and minimum of five (5) technical personnel and one network engineer

    *. Availability of back-up power supply (power generating set of minimum 40kva for a centre with 250 systems; 60 kva for 350 systems and 100kva for above 350 systems) and UPS/inverters that can carry all systems for a minimum of two (2) hours.

    *. The centre must be adequately fenced.

    *. Provision must be made for a holding room or reception facility e.g canopy with chairs, etc.

    *. The centre must not be in shared premises such as cinema hall, shopping mall, market, etc.

    *. Availability of adequate and functional air-conditioners and lighting.

    *. Provision of up to date Antivirus and all the systems must be virus free.

    *. Minimum of Windows 7 or higher version of windows operating system.

    *. IP Camera (CCTV) is compulsory for all CBT centers (Specification to be given by JAMB).
