MediaTek Dimensity 1000 SoC with support for dual-SIM 5G phones

We are about to experience a new dynamic era of 5G network, it is the new MediaTek Dimensity 1000 Octa-Core 7nm SoC with built-in 5G modem that support dual-SIM.

The Dimensity 1000 SoC is the world first chipset to support 5G on two SIMs. All the 5G phones available in the market right now, only support a single SIM, but MediaTek is turning it around.

Aside from that, the MediaTek Dimensity 1000, is also the MediaTek’s latest flagship SoC and the company’s first chip to use 7nm process technology, with four Cortex-A77 cores operating up to 2.6GHz.

And four power-efficient ARM Cortex-A55 cores operating at up to 2.0GHz with ARM Mali-G77 GPU. It also comes with WiFi 6 and Bluetooth 5.1+ support.

The company also claims that the new Dimensity 1000 SoC is the “world’s fastest” data throughput, as it support 4.7Gbps downstream and 2.5Gbps upstream on sub-6GHz 5G networks.

It comes with Five-core image signal processor (ISP) combined with MediaTek’s Imagiq+ technology for support for 80MP cameras sensors at 24 frames per second and a range of multi-camera options such as 32MP+16MP dual cameras.

Others includes the an advanced AI-camera enhancements for autofocus, auto exposure, auto white balance, noise reduction, high-dynamic-range (HDR) and facial detection, along with multi-frame video HDR capability.

While for videoing, the new SoC support Full HD+ displays up to 120Hz and 2K+ up to 90Hz. It is actually the first mobile SoC to support Google AV1 format up to 4K resolution at 60fps.

The MediaTek Dimensity 1000 is definitely a good chipset, but the fact remains that we wouldn’t be seeing the 80MP camera lens, instead we will see lower-resolution multi-camera devices.

However, the new chipset will be made available on phones in the first quarter of 2020. After all, Mediatek has started shipping the Dimensity 1000 to OEMs.

For the initial launch, we won’t be seeing the first dual-SIM 5G phones running on the Dimensity 1000 SoC at the first wave. You shouldn’t be afraid of the price, as Mediatek has promised cheaper and affordable prices for 5G phone.

It sure support 2X LPDDR4x Up to 2133MHz up to 10GB, UFS 2.1. But one thing is sure, and that is the company will keep up the race to released the first wave into the market.
