Netflix Games has finally been released for iPhone and iPad, after releasing them for Android previously. Starting tomorrow, it will also be available through the Netflix app globally. However, Netflix Games don’t appear in Kids’ profiles.
Earlier this year, Netflix announced that they will begin foraying into the mobile gaming market, and it started testing the games in Poland in August, with two games based on the Netflix original series – Stranger Things.
On 9th November, Netflix rolled out five mobile games exclusively for Netflix members.
- Stranger Things: 1984
- Stranger Things 3: The Game
- Shooting Hoops
- Teeter Up
- Card Blast
The two Stranger Things games are from developer BonusXP, each with a setting-appropriate retro pixel art style. Shooting Hoops and Teeter Up are a basketball and physics balancing game, respectively, from Frosty Pop–the mobile studio that has also developed Apple Arcade originals like The Get Out Kids and The Pinball Wizard. Finally, Card Blast is a card-based puzzle game from Amuzo and Rogue Ones.
You can download these games from the Google Play Store on Android, and the games will show up in the Netflix app inside a dedicated games row and games tab (categories drop-down menu in Android tablet) where you can select any game to download them directly from the Play Store.
Before we continue, Netflix noted that Games can be played from any Netflix profile in your account. A game may not appear for a profile if the profile’s maturity settings are set below the maturity rating of the game.

You can then hit install, and just start playing. When opening the game, Netflix will again ask who is playing and you can choose the profile and then start playing.
How to play Netflix Games on iPhone and iPad
With the Android launch, Netflix introduced a new “Games” tab within the app where users could browse the catalog and find a game they wanted to play.
But to actually play the game, they would be directed to the Google Play Store to install the game on their device. Upon the first launch, users would then sign into the game with their Netflix credentials. Follow the below steps to continue:
- Open the Netflix app and scroll to find the Netflix Games row.
- Tap on the game.
- Tap Get Game. The App Store will open.
- Select Get or tap the Cloud icon.
- The game will download and install to your device. When complete, choose Open.
- After a game is installed, you can find it under the Netflix Games row in the Netflix app. It may also be on your device’s home screen.
- Enter your Netflix email address and password.
- Select Log In.
Netflix says it’s using a similar system with the launch of Netflix games on iPhone and iPad. Except now, users are directed to Apple’s App Store for the downloads, not Google Play. The games will also require users to authenticate with their Netflix membership information in order to begin playing.
The company believes this system is compliant with Apple’s App Store rules, which were modified last year to be more permissive around gaming apps.
However, there is one difference between the iOS implementation of Netflix games and how the system works on Android.
Netflix users on Android have their own dedicated “Games” tab in the app’s navigation, but iOS users will not. Instead, iPhone members will only see a dedicated games row in the app where they can select any game to download.
Meanwhile, iPad members will see the row (pinned to position 6) and will be able to access games from the Categories drop-down menu.
How much is Netflix Games?
Perhaps the most appealing part of Netflix’s offering is the cost. Netflix has said it wants to make games an additional value on top of its standard pricing structure, and won’t charge extra for the benefit.
Netflix standard subscription pricing tiers are $9, $14, and $18 respectively, with increasing fidelity and the number of screens you can use at once. But even at the most basic $9 tier, you get access to the Netflix games library.
