Nokia 8.1 launched with Snapdragon 710 and Android 9 Pie

    HMD Global has launched the Nokia 8.1 Android Smartphone, and it runs on the latest Android 9.0 Pie.

    It is the latest Android OS, but the phone is powered by a mid-range processor, Qualcomm Snapdragon 710 SoC.

    One of the most impressive feature, is that the Nokia 8.1 is equipped with HDR display. Lets checkout the quick specs:

    Design and Display

    The Nokia 8.1 Smartphone comes with the trending screen display, which delivers smaller and minimal bezels, and rear fingerpint sensor.

    The Nokia 8.1 was officially launched and unveiled by HMD Global at an event on Wednesday in Dubai.

    Nokia 8.1 mobile phone is made out of a fine soft anodized aluminum with a two-tone finish on the back and front.

    It is also the successor to the mid-range Nokia 7 Plus Smartphone, and the the global variant of the Chinese Nokia X7.

    The handset sports a notched 6.18-inch 18.7:9 PureDisplay IPS LCD Full-HD+ 1080p display with HDR10 support, 500 nits brightness .

    It boasts of 81.5 percent screen-to-body ratio,  and is capable of a 96 percent color gamut. Available in Blue / Silver, Steel / Copper and Iron / Steel.

    Cameras and Connectivity

    While for the optics, the phone comes with dual camera setup at the back, and a single front facing camera.

    At the back, the phone arrives with the main 12-megapixels (f/1.8, 1/2.55”, 1.4µm pixels) + 13-megapixels for portrait shots, and depth sensor.

    However, the main camera is equipped with dual LED flash, Zeiss optics, EIS, 2PD, OIS. The 13MP module is just a depth sensor.

    Nokia 8.1 comes with a massive 20-megapixels selfie camera, it is just a fixed focus lens with 0.9-micron pixels.

    It also supports 4-in-1 pixel tech for better low-light photography. It is equipped with other amazing camera feature.

    Well, Nokia isn’t giving up on the Bothie feature. Which allows the Nokia 8.1 to take a photo from both cameras simultaneously.

    For video coverage, it supports 4K capture. And there is the Pro Camera UI for better shots.

    It comes with handful of network and connectivity, 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11ac, VoWiFi, Bluetooth v5.0, GPS/ A-GPS, FM radio, a 3.5mm headphone jack, and USB Type-C port.

    Oh yes, it is a mid-range Smartphone and it is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 710 chipset, clocked up to 2.2GHz Octa-core processor.

    The Nokia 8.1 Smartphone comes with 4GB of RAM, which will deliver seamless multitasking and switching of apps.

    Arrives with 64GB of internal storage but expandable up to 400GB via microSD. This will allow more storage options.

    The handset runs on Android 9.0 Pie, but it is still an Android ONE device. Henceforth, timely update, stock Android is still sure -2years OS updates and 3years of security updates.

    It is fueled by a 3,500mAh battery capacity, and comes with 18W fast charging, and can be charged via USB Type-C port.

    The company promises that it delivers up to 22 hours of talk time, 24 days of standby time, and up to 11 hours of video playback.

    Price of Nokia 8.1

    For the pricing and availability, the Nokia 8.1 Smartphone  costs EUR 399 and stands  as Europe’s 2019 first Nokia phone.

    However, the Nokia 8.1 is set to launch in the UK and Europe next year on January 14th for £379.99 (€399)

    Meanwhile, the Nokia 8.1 will be available for purchase from mid-December.
