Sony Xperia 8 Lite is now official with a tall 6-inch FHD+ 21:9 display, dual rear cameras, and powered by the Octa-Core Snapdragon 630 14nm Mobile Platform paired with 4GB RAM.
The Xperia 8 Lite was officially announced in its home country, Japan. The new mobile phone bears a great resemblance to Sony’s Xperia 10, but the cameras stand as the major difference.
With Sony’s newest Smartphone, we can be assured that the rumors of the company reigniting its Compact and Premium smartphones are closely true. With that on the other side, Sony’s Xperia lineup gets a new Smartphone.

Identically to the Xperia 10, there is the 6” LCD panel with Full HD+ resolution, ultra-tall 21:9 aspect ratio and with huge bezels at the top. Even the glass back panel still comes with a metal frame.
Both the front and back panels are protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 6. With this, we can comfortably say that the footprint is exactly the same, including the pill-shaped rear dual camera setup.
Unlike the Sony Xperia 10 with 13MP f/2.0 and 5MP f/2.4 depth sensor, the company used a 12-megapixels f/1.8 main shooter and secondary 8-megapixels f/2.4 snapper on the Xperia 8 Lite.
While we are still unsure of the secondary camera lens, we possibly stand by the fact that it is a depth sensor. Sony claims the phone has 2x optical zoom and can take brilliant photos that highlight the subject.
The big fat bezels at the top of the display hold an 8-megapixels selfie shooter and support portrait selfie. There is support for 21:9 photos, video capture, 4K video recording, 120fps slow-motion, and Steady Shot/Electronic Video Stabilization (EIS).
Clearly, the new Smartphone is purely powered by a three-year-old Octa-Core Snapdragon 630 with a 14nm Mobile Platform that is clocked at 2.2GHz speed, and with Adreno 508 GPU.
The Xperia 8 Lite is available in a single 4GB RAM, and 64GB storage, which is expandable up to 512GB via microSD card. It runs on a two-year-old Android 9.0 Pie OS.
It packs a 2870mAh battery with Adaptive Charging via USB-C port on the bottom, and a 3.5 mm audio jack on top. We still have no information on international availability.
But the Xperia 8 Lite will cost 28,500 Japanese Yen ($280) and will start shipping from September 1st, 2020 in Japan. There are some cashback options from the Sony-owned MVNO Nuro Mobile.
