We will soon know Instagram/Facebook as “Instagram from Facebook” and “WhatsApp from Facebook.”

We really don’t know if Social media giant, Facebook is about committing one of their biggest mistake ever, but adding its name to Instagram and WhatsApp might eventually put them both at risk. Instagram will soon become “Instagram from Facebook” and WhatsApp will turn into “WhatsApp from Facebook.”

Well, it is no longer news that Facebook has been facing different antitrust scrutiny from developed country’s regulators, over transparency of data privacy. Recall, that Facebook is the parent company of both Instagram and Whatsapp instant messaging app.

However, both Instagram and Whatsapp pulls more than 1 billion users, whereby Instagram is mostly targeted to young consumers. Instagram was purchased in 2012 and WhatsApp in 2014, but they want to make that obvious.

After the purchase, the both apps has been receiving major updates and newer features. Later on, Facebook installed its executives on both apps and right now, we will soon know them as Instagram from Facebook and WhatsApp from Facebook.

In fact, Facebook has already start adding its name on some screens of the both apps. Well, it is just a title, and they will start appearing on both Apple’s App Store and Google Playstore. “We want to be clearer about the products and services that are part of Facebook,” a company spokesman told Reuters.

Anyways, the name will still remain the same on your home screen or phone’s app menu list but you might still see them on the splash screen for both apps. For your knowledge, Oculus from Facebook and Workplace by Facebook has already been changed.

Meanwhile, Mark Zuckerberg has promised connected end-to-end encrypted WhatsApp, Instagram, and Facebook Messenger by the end of this year or by early 2020.

If you are on Instagram, you can see the “Instagram from Facebook” few clicks away at the bottom of the settings page in the Instagram app on some iOS devices.

While Whatsapp from Facebook can be found on Google’s Playstore About section of the app. Well, we really don’t know the outcome of how Facebook, Instagram and Whatsapp will be like in the future.
