Following a series of leaks, and rumors, the Chinese Smartphone maker, Xiaomi officially makes its latest Smartphone series official – Xiaomi 12 lineup including the Xiaomi 12, Xiaomi 12X, and the top-end premium Xiaomi 12 Pro.
These mobile handsets arrive with unique features, and while there are different from each other, they also bear some significant similarities. Both Xiaomi 12 and 12 Pro are powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chipsets, it’s a 4nm Mobile Platform with Adreno next-gen GPU.
The Xiaomi 12 series comes in 8GB RAM with 128GB / 256GB storage and 12GB RAM with 256GB storage. It uses the faster and updated LPPDDR5 RAM and UFS 3.1 storage. Similar to Xiaomi 12 series, they all run MIUI 13 based on Android 12 OS out of the box.
Bringing up to 6400Mbps transfer rate and new generation UFS 3.1 that offers sequential write speeds of up to 1450MBs. Xiaomi 12 and Xiaomi 12 Pro comes with a cooling system that has an extra-large 2600mm² VC soaking plate in a light and compact body, along with 10000mm² of heat-dissipating graphite, and white graphene covers the antenna area.
Xiaomi 12 Pro
Being the top among the trios in the lineup, the Pro arrives with an incredible display panel, a 6.73-inch 2K Samsung E5 OLED 1-120Hz LTPO display that uses micro-lens technology, which elevates the viewing experience while increasing smart energy-saving capability.
The company notable said that the device comes with up to 1500 nit peak brightness support, the display is HDR10+ certified, Dolby Vision, and brings 16000 brightness-level adjustments. It sports a 480Hz touch sampling rate and Corning Gorilla Glass Victus protection.
Around the back is a triple 50-megapixels sensor, a primary 1/ 1.28″ Sony IMX707 sensor with f/1.9, OIS, which utilizes 2.44μm 4-in-1 pixels. The advanced camera system setup improves light-capturing capabilities by 49% compared to the previous generation, says Xiaomi.
It is combined with a Samsung JN1 115° ultra-wide-angle lens with f/2.2 lens and a Samsung JN1 2x portrait camera with f/1.9 with 48mm focal length and supports 8K video recording. Inside the punch-hole at the top of the display is a 32-megapixels selfie camera.
Xiaomi 12 Pro cameras arrive with smart visual tracking capability that can simultaneously identify human eyes and figures, as well as pets, for stable and accurate focusing. There is 5G SA/NSA, Dual 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth 5.2, and GPS (L1 + L5).
It comes with an in-display fingerprint sensor, Infrared sensor, USB Type-C audio, Hi-Res audio, Dual speakers tuned by Harman Kardon tuning with Dolby Atmos, offering a vivid, natural sound experience in three dimensions, Xiaomi claims.
The Xiaomi 12 and Xiaomi 12 Pro are available in Black, Blue, and Purple colors with a glass back and a Green vegan leather version. The 12 Pro measures 8.16mm thick, but the glass model weighs 205g and the leather option weighs 204g.
Keeping the light of the Xiaomi 12 Pro is a large 4600mAh battery with 120W wired fast charging through USB Type-C. For the first time, we’ll be seeing a 120W single-cell fast charging that can charge up to 100% in 18 minutes. The phone also has 50W wireless charging for 100% charge in 42 minutes and 10W reverse wireless charging.

The basic model, 8GB RAM / 128GB storage costs 4,699 yuan ($737), BIGGER 256GB option costs 4,999 yuan ($785), and 12GB RAM / 256GB storage set you back at 5,399 yuan ($847).
Xiaomi 12
The Xiaomi 12 starts with a Samsung-made 6.28-inch AMOLED panel that supports FHD+ resolution and refreshes at up to 120Hz. There’s an under-display fingerprint scanner, with up to 1100 nit peak brightness, 16000 brightness-level adjustments.
It is also HDR10+ certified, featuring Dolby Vision and TrueColor display, and professional color calibration that allows accurate representation of 1.07 billion colors on the display. To keep the screen protected, there is the latest Corning’s Gorilla Glass Victus.
For the optics, the Xiaomi 12 comes with a Sony IMX766 50-megapixels sensor, a 1/1.56″ sensor with 2.0μm large pixels, and OIS. Next up is the f/2.4 13-megapixels 123° ultrawide snapper and a 50mm equivalent 5-megapixels f/2.4 tele-macro camera.
On the front is a 32-megapixels front-facing camera with 80.5 Fov and the back camera also arrives with 8K video recording. It is 8.16mm thick, weighs 189g for the glass, and 179g for the leather, and comes with USB Type-C audio. There’s Hi-Res audio, Dual speakers tuned by Harman Kardon with Dolby Atmos.
The Xiaomi 12 packs a slightly smaller 4500mAh battery with 67W wired fast charging that can charge up to 100% in 39 minutes, 50W wireless charging for 100% charge in 53 minutes, and 10W reverse wireless charging.

The chipset, memory, colors and availability are identical to the Xiaomi 12 Pro, where the 8GB RAM / 128GB storage costs 3,699 yuan ($580), 256GB is priced at 3,999 yuan ($627) and the 12GB RAM / 256GB storage goes for 4,399 yuan ($690).

Lastly, here is the Xiaomi 12X with the same 6.28-inch 1080p Full HD+ AMOLED 20:9 HDR10 + display with 120Hz refresh rate, up to 1100 nits brightness with Dolby Vision, in-display fingerprint sensor, and support Corning Gorilla Glass Victus protection.
The Xiaomi 12X comes with an f/1.88 50-megapixels camera with a 1/ 1.56″ Sony IMX766 sensor, OIS, accompanied by a 13-megapixels 123° ultra-wide-angle f/2.4 lens and 5-megapixels telemacro f/2.4 camera lens and supports 8K video recording.
It also sports a 32-megapixels selfie camera with 80.5 Fov. The Xiaomi 12X is 8.16mm thick, weighs 176g, features USB Type-C audio, Hi-Res audio, Dual speakers tuned by Harman Kardon tuning with Dolby Atmos. It comes with 5G SA/NSA, Dual 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.1, and GPS (L1 + L5), NavIC.
Unlike others, the 12X is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 870 7nm Mobile Platform with 1x 3.2GHz, 3x 2.42GHz, and 4x 1.8GHz Hexa processor coupled with Adreno 650 GPU. It features a 4500mAh battery capacity with 67W wired fast charging.
Pricing
The Xiaomi 12X basic model, 8GB RAM / 128GB model costs 3,199 yuan ($502), 256GB storage model costs 3,499 yuan ($549) and the 12GB RAM / 256GB storage version is priced at 3799 yuan ($596). These phones will go on sale in China starting from December 31st, but you can order any of them right now.
