Xiaomi Mi 9 arrives with 48MP triple camera, and 20W wireless charging

    Xiaomi Mi 9 has been unveiled, and sports a 48MP triple camera, 20W wireless charging, 6.39-inches Super AMOLED panel with 1080p+, 20MP selfie camera and powered by a Snapdragon 855 chipset.

    In a single day, Xiaomi launched the Mi 9, Mi 9 Transparent Edition, and the Mi 9 SE. And this isn’t different from last year series of the same family.

    The Xiaomi Mi 9 SE turns out to be the least budgeted Smartphone among the series, and the first Smartphone to come with Snapdragon 712 SoC processor.

    On the other hand, the Xiaomi Mi 9 sports the fifth-generation in-display fingerprint sensor, and it is the company’s first triple camera and the fastest wireless charging.

    In quick summary, the Mi 9 features a new 6.39-inch 1080p AMOLED display with a much smaller waterdrop notch and adds an ultra-wide angle lens for triple rear cameras.

    Design and Display

    The Xiaomi Mi 9 is an Android Smartphone that sports a realistic screen display, and an impressive design with spectacular rounded corners.

    Unlike the newly released Vivo V15 Pro, the Mi 9 arrived with a water-drop notch display, which houses the selfie camera at the up front.

    Mi 9 sports a phablet screen size of 6.39-inches with Super AMOLED panel, and displays glorious images and videos with the 1080p+ screen resolution.

    Thankfully, the company claims that the phone sports a 90.7% screen-to-body ratio, with 600nits screen high brightness mode.

    The back of the Gorilla Glass 5 has a sapphire glass lens cover, which debuts as the best protection for the back. Meanwhile the screen display is guarded by a Gorilla Glass 6.

    However, you can still reduce the power usage by up to 83%, just by applying the Dark Mode. Anyways, the Always-On Display now supports colorful patterns.

    Similar to Vivo and LG G7 ThinQ, you can find a dedicated AI button that will let users switch on Google Assistant. In China, the same AI dedicated button will work with proprietary Xiao AI.

    Featuring an in-display fingerprint sensor scanner, and the standard Xiaomi Mi 9 will be available in a shinning gradient Lavender Violet, Ocean Blue and Piano Black color options.

    Camera and Connectivity

    Well, you can’t the find the pop-up selfie camera feature, because Xiaomi is settling for a static water-drop notch display, that houses the selfie camera.

    Where you have got the 20-megapixels selfie camera (f/2.0, 0.9µm). And it arrives with AI support, and the company promoted that there will be AI-powered face unlock in some region.

    While for the back camera, the Xiaomi Mi 9 comes with a triple rear camera setup, that consists of a 48-megapixel Sony IMX586 primary sensor with 1.0-micron pixel size and an f/2.2 lens.

    The primary sensor also supports four-in-one pixel (12-megapixel effective pixels). There is also a 16-megapixel Sony IMX481 secondary sensor along with a combination of ultra-wide and macro lens having an f/2.2 lens and a field-of-view (FoV) of 117 degrees.

    The phone also has a 12-megapixel sensor along with an f/2.2 telephoto lens. Well, this aren’t bad for a mid-range Android powered Smartphone.

    The Xiaomi Mi 9 is powered by a latest silicone, the Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 with Adreno 640 GPU and a new faster NFC chip with Adreno 640 GPU for graphic performance during gaming period.

    And available in two different models, there is the 6GB and 8GB LPDDR4X RAM options. Which are definitely the best for performance.

    Mi 9 sports 64GB and 128GB of internal storage, and there is the Game Turbo mode to deliver a smoother gaming experience.

    The Xiaomi Mi 9 runs on Android 9.0 Pie with MIUI 10 on top. The Mi 9 packs a 3,300mAh battery that supports 20W wireless charging alongside 27W wired fast charging support.

    Mi 9 6GB RAM / 128GB storage is priced at RMB 2999 (about $445, while the Mi 9 8GB RAM / 128GB storage costs RMB 3299 (about $490).
