That says it all. Netflix is blocking rooted Android phones from downloading its app. Is your phone rooted? and you are a Netflix lover? but you have to choose and decide today, who to follow?
Are you following Netflix or your Rooted Phone? but the sad truth there is that, one has to move ahead! Netflix said:
With our latest 5.0 release, we now fully rely on the Widevine DRM provided by Google; therefore, many devices that are not Google-certified or have been altered will no longer work with our latest app and those users will no longer see the Netflix app in the Play Store.
But right now, it is uncertain if the app might stop working in the older rooted devices that has been using the app since before the announcement.
But of all people, Netflix should understand that Rooting of Phones is trying to let you to operate your phone your way and have full control and responsibility over how your money (phone) works!
While the decision to block downloads from the Play store might be tied to efforts to protect Netflix’s copyright material (it might be possible to break the DRM protection on downloaded Netflix videos), the implementation doesn’t quite make sense.
They also added that:
